Pedestrian Links Connect Causeway Bay Residents to Harbour and Transit Safely

A proposed pedestrian link project in Causeway Bay includes five footbridges and a 100-meter covered walkway from Hysan Place to Lee Gardens One-Six and Caroline Hill Road, expected to open progressively from 2026. This development targets routes that residents use daily to reach the MTR Causeway Bay Station and nearby commercial areas.
Connections to Existing Harbourfront Paths
The eastern section of the 2.2-km East Coast Boardwalk connecting Causeway Bay and Quarry Bay opened on 29 December 2025. Completion of this section created a continuous 13-km promenade along Hong Kong Island's northern shore. Residents can now move along the waterfront without relying solely on roads such as Yun Ping Road and Hysan Avenue.
Revitalised Precinct and Former Infrastructure
The revitalised Typhoon Shelter Precinct covers 2.53 ha and features a 317-meter new promenade near Victoria Park Road along with new harbour steps. These elements were expected to open by the latter half of 2022. Earlier work included reconstruction of the Causeway Bay Flyover between 2004 and 2007 and the Central and Western Reclamation Phase III project.
The pedestrian footbridge project aims to divert pedestrians from busy at-grade roads like Yun Ping Road and Hysan Avenue while providing barrier-free access from MTR Causeway Bay Station to the hinterland. Local residents gain direct links that reduce exposure to vehicle traffic during routine trips to shops, offices and the waterfront.
Further sections of the new footbridge network are scheduled to open in stages starting next year. Residents can monitor updates through official project notices on the Development Bureau website for any adjustments to access points near Hysan Place and Caroline Hill Road.
