Tsim Sha Tsui Launches Free Mental Health Counselling at Two Locations
Drop-in centres on Nathan Road and Chatham Road South provide no-cost counselling amid rising urban stress.
How we reported this

Tsim Sha Tsui residents gained access to two new free mental health drop-in points this week at the corner of Nathan Road and Peking Road.
High-density living along the waterfront and in the commercial core has driven more people to seek support for stress and anxiety. The July 1 launch of these services follows a district health report that recorded 28 percent of adults in Yau Tsim Mong reporting sleep disruption tied to work pressure in the past year.
Two sites now open daily
The first centre sits inside the Tsim Sha Tsui Community Hall at 123 Nathan Road, offering 30-minute sessions with registered counsellors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. The second operates from a converted storefront at 45 Chatham Road South, run by the local branch of the Hong Kong Mental Health Association, with extended hours until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both locations require no appointment and accept walk-ins only.
Staff at the Nathan Road site logged 142 first-time visitors in the opening eight days. Each session covers basic stress-management techniques such as paced breathing and short mindfulness exercises drawn from the association’s standard protocol. Participants can also receive printed referrals to longer-term free group programmes held at the same venues on Saturday mornings.
How to reach the centres
Take the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui station and exit at the Peking Road side for the Nathan Road location; the Chatham Road South site lies three blocks east of the station. Phone lines open at 8:30 a.m. for basic information: 2368 1122 for the community hall and 2723 4455 for the association office. No fees apply for the initial visit or any follow-up group sessions scheduled through these points.
Residents should bring only their Octopus card for identification. Those seeking immediate support outside opening hours can text the 24-hour local helpline 8208 2000, which routes callers to the nearest available counsellor in the district. The next intake for Saturday group programmes begins July 18 at both addresses.
